Pirate 21 Blackjack by BetSoft is based on a very popular variant of classic blackjack games: Spanish 21. The base rules are the same, but this variant favors the player. This doesn’t mean you get guaranteed wins of course, only the house edge is pretty low (%0.79) and the prize is bigger because of this. As for the graphical quality, the game looks good. The interface consists of a static blackjack table image, but it looks realistic enough and easily understandable. There are three betting boxes on the table, you can play on them all or stick to one – your choice.

Rules of Spanish 21

You start by setting your wager; to do this simply click on the poker chips pile at the bottom right side of the screen. Each chip has a numeric value, between 1.00 and 500 coins. (500 coins is only available at the real money version, you are limited to 100 coins in demo mode.) Click on the chip of your choice; this is your wager. After that, click on the betting box (or boxes) and start to play by clicking on the “deal” button. Each side will get two cards, but one of the dealer’s card is face down. You can ask for more cards by clicking on the “hit” button or force the dealer to draw by clicking on the “stand” button. The goal is to reach a total of 21 or a total higher than the dealer, as with all blackjack games. However, Pirate 21 Blackjack differs from the rest by following these rules:

– If both sides have 21, player always wins

– Player can double on any number of cards

– Player can double after splitting

– Player can late surrender

– Dealer must stand on 17 and must draw on 16

In addition to these rules, you can make a side bet if your cards match the face-up card of the dealer. It pays 9:1, so we highly recommend making a side bet if the rules allow. In normal gameplay, blackjack pays 3:2. You get 1.000 coins in the demo mode, and since the maximum bet is 100 coins, you can play literally for hours if you play smart. Follow the general blackjack strategies, they work in Spanish 21 too. This variant of blackjack is rare, and Pirate 21 Blackjack is a good example of the genre – highly recommended.
